INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION (8 minutes)
Write responses to these three prompts:
Prompt 1: What surprised me most about RCCE today?
Guidance: Think about something you didn’t know before, or something that challenged your assumptions. Examples:
- “I didn’t realize RCCE is mostly about relationships, not just messages”
- “I was surprised that 75% of diseases come from animals”
- “I didn’t know rumor management was a systematic process”
Prompt 2: How does Kampala’s urban context shape RCCE differently than rural areas?
Guidance: Compare what you learned about urban challenges (density, diversity, mobility) to rural settings. Examples:
- “In rural areas, you can gather everyone under a tree. In Kampala’s settlements, people work different hours—you need multiple channels”
- “Kampala has 15+ languages. Rural districts are more linguistically homogeneous”
- “Kampala’s mobility means diseases spread faster—RCCE must be faster too”
Prompt 3: One concept I’ll use in my work immediately is…
Guidance: Be specific about application. Examples:
“Rumor tracking—I’ll start a WhatsApp group with VHTs to report rumors daily”
“The 5WH framework for situation analysis—I’ll use it to plan our next cholera preparedness meeting”
“Engaging market leaders as trusted messengers—I’ll meet with Nakawa Market leadership next week”
